Enabling SMTP Authentication in Mac Mail v 2.x (OS X.4 - Tiger) or Mac Mail v 1.3 (OS X.3 - Panther) Please Note: One week prior to SMTP Authentication being required in your area, you will receive an e-mail from FrontierNet, informing you that the change will need to be made. These e-mails are sent to our customers on a Tuesday. Please wait until the following Tuesday (exactly one week) after receiving the notification to perform the steps below to enable SMTP Authentication. Feel free to bookmark this page for future reference. The screenshots below represent Mac Mail v 2.x (OS X.4 - Tiger), but they are the same for Mac Mail v 1.3 (OS X.3 - Panther).

Step 2: If your outgoing mail server is set to smtp.frontiernet.net, smtp.citlink.net, mail.ctaz.com, or smtp.newnorth.net, select "Server Settings" to proceed. Next >>> If your outgoing mail server is set to something other than smtp.frontiernet.net, smtp.citlink.net, mail.ctaz.com, or smtp.newnorth.net, no changes need to be made at this time.

Click the red circle at the top of the window to save your changes. Next >>>
Select "Save" when asked if you'd like to save your changes. That's it! SMTP authentication has been enabled
