Enabling SMTP Authentication in Eudora Version 5.x
Note 1:
The screenshots below represent both Eudora version 5.1 and 5.2.
Note 2: Customers using Eudora
releases that are prior to version 5.1
will need to
upgrade their Eudora to version 5.1 or higher for SMTP Authentication to
function properly. To obtain the newest version of Eudora, click
here.
To determine what version of Eudora you may be running, while in the
program, select the Help > About Eudora.
If you opt to upgrade your Eudora, it will maintain
your mail settings, address book, and any e-mail messages that you may
have saved.
Step 1:
To enable SMTP Authentication in Eudora version 5.x , while you are
in the program, click on "Tools" and then select "Options".

Step 2:
If your "Mail Server (Incoming)" is pop3.frontiernet.net,
pop3.citlink.net, or pop3.newnorth.net, and your "SMTP Server
(Outgoing)" is smtp.frontiernet.net, smtp.citlink.net, or smtp.newnorth.net, make sure that your complete
FrontierNet, Citlink, or Newnorth
e-mail address is entered in the "Login Name" field.
If your "Mail Server (Incoming)" and your "SMTP Server
(Outgoing)" is mail.ctaz.com, make sure that your complete
CTAZ e-mail address is entered in the "Login Name" field
in the format of "username@citlink.net" (replace "ctaz.com with "citlink.net").
Please note, this will
*not* change your e-mail address.
The box
to the left of "Allow authentication" should be checked. Click "OK" to
save any changes you may have made. That's it! SMTP authentication has
been enabled.
If your "Mail Server (Incoming)" is anything other than
pop3.frontiernet.net, pop3.citlink.net, mail.ctaz.com, or pop3.newnorth.net, but your "SMTP
Server (Outgoing)" is smtp.frontiernet.net, smtp.citlink.net,
mail.ctaz.com, or smtp.newnorth.net, you will need to upgrade Eudora from version 5.x to
at least version 6.x or 7.x to be able to successfully send mail. To
obtain the newest version of Eudora, click
here. Upon completion of the upgrade,
click
here
for further instructions.
If your "SMTP Server (Outgoing)" is set to something
other than smtp.frontiernet.net, smtp.citlink.net, mail.ctaz.com, or smtp.newnorth.net, no changes
need to be made at this time.
